Construction

FG has received the permits needed to begin construction of The Sunshine Project, and site preparation activities are underway for the estimated $9.4 billion industrial complex to be located in St. James Parish, Louisiana.

All activities on the project property are being implemented in a safe and environmentally protective manner.

Preconstruction activities are outlined below. Timing of activities is subject to change and will be provided as information is available.

  • Soil Testing: Soil sampling on site, including collection of soil samples and lab testing, will help determine the types of foundations needed for the facility design.
  • Utility Relocation: FG is coordinating with contractors to relocate and improve utilities near Hwy. 18, including AT&T, Cox, Entergy, Eatel (RTC) and St. James Parish potable water lines.
  • Highway 3127 Widening & Drainage Improvement: Voluntary improvements to Hwy. 3127, including widening the highway to four lanes for the length of the facility, adding several turning lanes, and drainage improvements to help minimize traffic impacts.
  • Test Pile: Installation and performance of a limited test pile program to collect engineering data and design piling for the project.
  • Pipeline Project: Florida Gas will remove a pipeline running through the site.

FG LA LLC's Think Local policy is our commitment to hire locally and use local businesses as much as possible during construction and operations of The Sunshine Project.
